About Pilates
Pilates is a body conditioning method that works differently to other exercise techniques. It provides an unparalleled level of integrated fitness providing core and spine strength, full-body range of movement, as well as breath efficiency. With practice we learn the right muscle combinations and movement patterns for pain free function. It is a continual learning process that teaches you to be in control of your body using a mindful connection.
At Repower we see Pilates as targeted symmetrical training and the prerequisite to doing all other things more comfortably. Our focus is on improving posture and preventing pain by correcting imbalances and alignment, as well as improving agility and strength to achieve an ease of movement that you may not have experienced before. We help you to understand how the form we teach applies to how you carry your body throughout the day. Small changes in improving daily functions can have a huge impact on the quality of your life.
All interested in health, as well as health professionals like GPs and Consultants understand that Pilates is the perfect complement to cardiovascular exercise, rehabilitation and sports training. Pilates can help to avoid surgical procedures for conditions like chronic back pain that can improve with practice. Sports people find that Pilates is a great foundation to improve any range of movement they need for performance, and know how important Pilates is for cross training to avoid overuse injuries.
We see an increase in GP referrals to us and it is refreshing to see some are now prescribing Pilates over medication for pain relief. We decipher the truth about working your ‘core’ and teach an understanding of full body function that transfers to your lifestyle, in and out of the studio, to enhance the quality of your life.
